The clever bird
The raven is a big black bird. He is much bigger than a crow. It is also very intelligent and industrious. A raven can figure out how to use tools, how to hide food from both other ravens and us humans. They are talking to each other, and some stories say that they can learn to sound like other birds and even humans.
In the Nordic Mythology, the God Odin had two ravens he sent out to spy for him. They came back and sat on his shoulders ant talked about what they had seen.
Let us present: the raven
So smart
Early in the year, in January we can hear his krrrrp sound up high in the air. The male raven is showing off for the female. They fly in loops, make turns and cross each other. They can even fly with the back facing down =)
They are preybirds and eat meat. When there are wolves, you can often see the ravens around them. They use pranks on them and bite them in the tales. They land without fear and eat from the carcasses.
The Ravens also use other animals to open the prey skin, so they can start to eat. So they lead wolves and foxes to the food.
A really funny fix is, that the raven is getting drugged on ants. They sit on the anthill with the wings spread and allot the ants to spray their bodies. They practice myrmecomany! When done, they raise their heads and fly up from the ants and are ectatic!

What a lovely story! Yes, we must take care of the Ravens. They are very special and should be treated as such.
My son has tall pine trees all around his house and they are full of Ravens. They nest in the trees and one year a nest fell down and our son called us to come and get baby ravens on the ground. He had to leave and couldn't stay. We went and found them some were dead. We picked up two live ones an took them to the wildlife center.

We don't seem to have ravens where I live, just lots of crows. I think I would like ravens, they sound very intelligent. Their antics on the ants nest sounds amazing. A very interesting hub about a fascinating bird species, thank you. My votes to you, irenemaria.
Wow. I really did learn something here. My wife and I watch (and talk to) a raven pair that sometimes hunts over our remote rural desert acreage in southern Arizona, but neither of us knew a think about "ant bathing".
I'll have to clue her in, come mornng.
